Nov 3  Red Wines for Everyday Living

Sat 1-5pm                            Saturday Ron and I are going to open some good wines that you can't live without Monday through Friday. Inexpensive matched with quality makes for must haves on your kitchen counter or in your little counter top wine rack so you can grab one on your way to the table.

Four Vines Zinfandel OVC
We were supposed to pour this wine in September but it didn't happen and we really missed out on a good one. This is one of my best selling wines under $15 and it will knock your socks off. It has tons of berry fruit and anis with hints of spice on the nose. On the palate this wine is rich in blackberry, spicy plum and a velvety toasted oak finish. Hits the spot every time. $13

Ten Mile Broken-Road
We've been bragging about this little wine forever and a day and it's about time we pour it for everyone. It's a crazy blend of Petit Sirah, Carignane, Zinfandel, and Barbera...yes, it's all in there and it tastes fantastic. It goes with everything because Ron and I have tried it with everything except vanilla ice cream but I'm sure it would go well with vanilla ice cream too. $10

Nov 8 & 10
Italian Wines You'll Love, Capiche!

from Bianco-Rosso Imports

Draga Miklus Pinot Grigio
100% Pinot Grigio. This wine has great mineral and flinty character and exhibits lovely floral aromas with mellow peach and herbal flavors that linger on the finish. Although I would enjoy sipping this wine it's really perfect to pair with food as it has very nice body. $15

Poggio Salvi Colli Senesi Chianti 2004 90% Sangiovese Grosso, 10% Colorino, Merlot, and Malvasia Nera. Earned 85 pts Wine Spectator. Rich, delicious, dark and valued well at $15. Great pick that we are very pleased to share with you.

Castel Sallegg Lagrein Riserva
100% Lagrein, an original grape of South Tyrol. This wine shows dark garnet red with a light velvety blackberry aroma. Full bodied flavor with a delicately tart finish. Great pairing with beef, game, Asian dishes or strong cheeses. $23

Caudrina Asti 'La Selvatica'
100% Moscato. Straw to golden-yellow sparkler with a pronounced but delicate sweetness. This is not a candy-sweet wine. Rather, expect assertive ripe apricots and peaches. Excellent with cookies, flakey pasties, fruits and other cream-based desserts. $10 375ml and $18 for 750ml.

Nov 15 & 17
Gilbert Cellars

New Releases!

Gilbert Cellars Chardonnay 2006
Gilbert Cellars is a family-owned winery committed to producing delicious wine from their estate vineyards. This is their second vintage of Chardonnay from 30 year old vines that flourish in one of the oldest vineyards in the state. This wine offers crisp fruit and a pleasurable finish. This wine is a great partner with chicken or halibut. $18

Gilbert Cellars Claret
This blend of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 10% Malbec, and 10% Petit Verdot is a wonderful example of the success of Bordeaux varieties on the Wahluke slope. A bouquet of herbs and smooth palette of dark fruits highlight this moderately tannic but very approachable and drinkable red blend. It can be enjoyed on its own but also goes well with hearty meals and pasta with red sauces. $19

Gilbert Cellars Syrah
This hedonistic Syrah delivers an aroma of wild violets and creme de cacao leading into a plush medley of dark fruits and an enduring finish of French vanilla and roasted coffee. The grapes for this wine were picked 2 weeks apart. The first pick was full of violets and freshness. The second pick came two weeks later from the same vines and the grapes offered the luscious fullness and weight the wine. It is so smooth and fulfilling. You'll love it. $27

November 22 & 23  CLOSED FOR THANKSGIVING

We hope you are spending this beautiful holiday with your family and friends. Choose your favorite bottle of wine and share it with the special people in your life.

Four Vines Winery
Paso Robles, California

Four Vines Naked Chardonnay
"Naked" is our expression for a No-Oak style of winemaking. The fruit was fermented in 100% stainless steel and NOT put through malolactic fermentation, in order to maintain the natural acid balance. The Chardonnay exhibits crisp apple, white peach, and pear, finishing long with hints of citrus and mineral. Drink Naked often! $13

Four Vines OVC Zinfandel 2005
We have such a great wealth of Zinfandel that we have the ability to put together a fantastic multi- appellation Zin Blend. On the nose the wine has layers of berry fruit and anise aromas with hints of spice. On the palate, blackberry and spicy plum fruit with a rich mouth feel trailing to a velvety toasted oak finish. Enjoy with a friend! $13

Four Vines "The Maverick"
The 100-plus-year old vines of the original Grandpere Vineyard, along with the 40- year old vines of The Deaver and Linstead Vineyards produce a wine that is chewy and spicy, rich with blackberry fruit and a hint of velvet vanilla oak. Blended with a touch of Syrah from the Bailey Vineyard. The Jam Bomb! $22

Shya Red 2004
Inaugural release of the 2004 Bordeaux style red comprised of 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Franc, 4% Malbec, and 2% Petit Verdot. The grapes were hand picked, hand sorted, and fermented in small one-ton containers. Aging in small barrels provided the optimal backdrop to the complex fruit character of the wine.

The wine is deep ruby color with a violet rim revealing aromas of dark berries, cherry and vanilla with a soft luscious mouth-feel highlighting dark fruit, cedar and spice. A beautifully complex and structured wine best enjoyed now thru 2012. Only 200 cases produced. A steal at $36.

Syrah 2004
Our extremely limited production 2004 Syrah was grown to showcase the endless potential this variety has in Washington State. The fruit for this meticulously handcrafted elixir was sourced from the prestigious and quality oriented Elerding Vineyard in the recently approved and highly regarded Horse Heaven Hills American Viticultural Area. The fruit underwent a long fermentation and maceration program in order to maximize flavor extraction. In order to highlight the beautiful fruit nuances, oak character was purposely minimized by aging in used cooperage. This extremely dark colored wine exhibits a beautiful nose of dark berries, chocolate and spice. In the palate the wine rewards us with an outburst of flavor and a long finish. This wine should be enjoyed alone or with succulent dishes from 2008-2010. Only 50 cases produced.

Sept 22
Des Voigne Cellars
Darren Des Voigne,
Woodinville Winemaker

The San Remo 2005 Sangiovese
A true Chianti style wine of 100% Sangiovese from Walla Walla's Seven Hills Vineyard. Bright ruby color, aromas of flowers and vanilla on the nose with ripe flavors of red cherries with hints of licorice and leather. San Remo goes with light fare like pasta marinara, exotic dishes like wild boar and simple things like an empty wine glass. $25

Solea 2005
Solea is an Andalusian word for the flamenco. It's a sultry tune by Miles Davis and it's our Bordeaux style blend of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, and 13% Cab Franc aged 17 months in 90% French and 10% American oak. Filled with flavors of berry and cassis with hints of green pepper and smoke. $28

The Emcee 2005
The Emcee is all cool elegance. Merlot from Horse Heaven Hills is blended with 4% Walla Walla Cabernet for a silky smooth wine filled with flavors of currant and plum with hints of clove, maraschino cherry and chocolate. $26

The Duke 2005
Bursting with berry The Duke is the newest Walla Walla red. 71% Zinfandel, 21% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot, 4% Cab Franc. Lush and juicy with ripe red cherry on the nose and palate, a lively mouth feel and just enough tannin for grip, finishing with a hint of vanilla and tar. Perfect for your next barbeque, a quiet dinner for two, or simply for mom and dad at the family dinner table. $26

Sept 29
Domaine Des Lauribert
Rhone Valley, France

Lauribert Tradition CDR 2005
80% Grenache, 20% Syrah. This one is a sleeper. Or maybe it isn't...the label is great, everyone who tasted the 2004 vintage fell in love with it and the price is outstanding. Okay, so it's pretty clear that this is a great little wine. Great flavor, fruit and spice, long finish that stays in and around your mouth long after you've taken that glorious sip. We love it and believe that you will too. $11

La Carelette Valreas CDRV 2004
70% Grenache, 30% Syrah. We consider this one the big brother to it's 'Tradition' brother. More Syrah adds more depth, more richness. Really what I can say is that if you like the Tradition and want something a little heavier, weightier, richer, darker - it's an easy step to the La Carelette. Try them both, take them both home - each of these wines will cover all your food bases. $20

Sappy and quite chewy with good acid. Fresh and approachable: a savoury food style. $13.00

Baron-Fuente Champagne Galipettes Brut Cuvee

25 % Chardonnay – 70% Meunier – 5% Pinot Noir

This “terroir” Champagne is made with grapes from organic vines of the 2002 harvest. “Galipes” in Champagne slang means vine. As we have a limited production for this champagne, we have chosen to name it “Galipettes”.

This champagne has a golden hue with a gorgeous fruity bouquet. The palate is fresh and complex with lingering aromas. The structure is well-balanced with fruity aromas and notes of toasted bread and crumb. This pretty bubbly will be ideal for any festive occasion and really, doesn't Champagne go with just about everything? This is a beautiful wine. $35.00

d'Arenberg Wines of Australia

d'Arenberg is one of the most significant wineries in McLaren Vale. In 1912 Joseph Osborn, a teetotaler and director of Thomas Hardy and Sons, purchased the well established Milton Vineyards in the hills just north of the townships of Gloucester and Bellevue, now just known as McLaren Vale.

Joseph's son Francis Ernest (‘Frank') Osborn left medical school, choosing to forsake the scalpel for pruning shears. Fruit from the 78 hectares of vineyards was sold to local wineries until his own cellars were complete in 1928. Dry red table and fortified wines were produced in ever increasing quantities to supply the expanding markets of the Empire.

In 1943 Frank's son Francis d'Arenberg, universally known as ‘d'Arry', returned from school, age 16, to help his ill father run the business, eventually assuming full management of d'Arenberg in 1957. d'Arry bottled the first of the famous diagonal red stripe labelled wines two years later.

The Stump Jump 2005 GSM
46% Grenache, 34% Shiraz, 20% Mourvedre. A lovely rich red appearance with a red rose petal hue. This wine has plenty of impact with ripe juicy red fruits, spice, cardamom, and a cherry character with a background of oak. The palate is dry but fruity with soft tannins that balance the obvious Grenache dominated palate loaded with mulberries, plum and spices. The finish is lovely soft, rich in flavour with savoury red fruit characters and hints of vanilla which is characteristic of d’Arenberg wines. A pleasure to drink now or cellar over the next 2 to 5 years. $11.99

The Love Grass Shiraz 2004
Shiraz, Cabernet, Petit Verdot, and Merlot. As the wine opens up it reveals plum and cherry juice with violets, cloves and summer flowers. As it opens further more complex flower and bright red to black fruit characters appear.

The palate is juicy with weighty, red-fruited Shiraz dominated by plums, rhubarb, cherries, strawberries, mulberry, smoked bacon, white pepper and flower characters then a level of black currants and fragrant spice from the Cabernet and Petit Verdot appear. On the second sip a lovely mulberry tar-like character of Merlot starts to fill the palate with vivid, deep-red cherry flavors mixed with a hint of sage leaf, cloves and turmeric from the Petit Verdot which fans out across the finish with a grippy but polished finish. $14.99

February  1
Tenuta Le Velette Umbria, Italy

The estate of Le Velette lies in the center of the production zone of Orvieto Classico on a plateau that faces the steep cliff of the town of Orvieto. Their ancient hand carved rock cellars testify to the antique enological tradition of this region. The estate was the property of the Count Negroni until the 1800s. It was purchased in the late 19th Century by the Felici family, from which the current owners are descended.

Gaudio 2001
100% Merlot. "Gaudio" meaning happiness and this wine should put a smile on your face. Do you ever get a whiff of red wine and say, "that's Italian" - well you will this time. The aroma brings with it the earth and soil straight from the vineyard. It's dark, it's deep, it's Merlot. $19.99

Calanco 2000
65% Sangiovese, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon. Rick, dark ruby in color. Another intense wine with voluptuous aromas and flavors like prune jam and coffee beans. Tannin structure is silky and held up equally by strong flavors of fruit and cocoa. This wine makes my eyes roll. $19.99

Grand Cru Banniere Champagne (Thursday 5-7pm)

Special $3 Tasting Fee

There are 17 villages that enjoy the elite top position in the French classification system of Grand Cru. These are the finest growing areas for Champagne - slopes containing chalky minerality for which the region is famous. The Champagne vineyards are exposed to a cold, northerly climate which inevitably makes grape growing a precarious operation, and the quality of grapes vary from year to year. This is why most champagne is blended - to even out the quality. Grand Cru Champagne is an expression of the terroir - there's nothing quite like it. Don't miss this very special tasting opportunity of a Grand Cru Champagne.

Banniere Grand Cru Tradition

Chatter Creek Grenache 2005
Made by Gordy Rawson right here in Woodinville with a splash of Syrah. Gordy has a great line-up of wines, his Grenache being our favorite. A very pretty wine in the glass, light ruby in color, very clear and bright. The nose is full of aromas of cranberry, fresh bread and strawberry. Racy acid in the forward palate combines with the flavors of cranberry, raspberry, peach and a bit of hazelnut, resulting in a well- balanced, classic Grenache.
